So this time I decided to change some things. Change some things a lot. So many planets now... so much room for... SPACE ACTIVITIES!
Also, shit’s pretty, yo.

I installed one of the realistic planet size mods.
Holy crap is it hard just to get into orbit now, let alone get out of Kerbals influence.

Is ksp really worth it? It looks interesting, but it seems a bit expensive.

Let me put it this way. I mostly play on installs other than the normal steam one, because for a while updates were pretty frequent and usually broke mods. I normally only play on the install that Steam monitors for play time about 60% of the time.
That said,
It’s an incredibly fun game. For me, anyway. If you enjoy space, aeronautics, or just engineering challenges in general, it’s like crack. It’s a sandbox build-it-then-fly-it game that so many others have tried to do but never quite gotten right.
If you’re still not sure, there’s a demo .

Did you get one of the ones that doesn’t scale ISP as well, or you did and it’s still just more difficult?

how2mod: Drag and Drop. If you’re really interested I can explain things to you, but it’s incredibly simple. You just put the mod folders in the game folder and bam.
Most, if not all mods work for the Mac version. The only exceptions were certain file types the mac version couldn’t handle, and anything that relied on an external program. I haven’t seen a non-mac compatible mod in ages, though. I have a lightly modded version on my laptop.

pretty sure it’s this one

I installed it using CKAN and enabled all its dependancies. I’m using FAR as well. I just had to re think how I build the rockets so they have enough Delta V to get anywhere without being way too heavy.

I tried one of those “real scale” mods once (via CKAN) but could never get it working properly.

I’m not sure if I enjoy it enough at real scale, the planets seem way less detailed ‘cause they’re mostly just scaled up in size.
Ithink I’ll go back to Vanilla + FAR and Remotetech

This is possibly the most replayable game I have ever purchased. I got it when it was on some kind of sale for early adopters or something. This game is worth so much more than the asking price if you’re into these kind of physics simulation games...

If you’ve got the memory left, what about one of the texture packs meant for the larger scale? That might improve the detail.
Or did you mean topography? Some of the planet packs may be optimized for the larger scale as well in that regard.

I meant the topography, everything ends up really flat so landing is way too easy. I haven’t found anything. As well as the sheer time needed to exit and enter the atmosphere it’s sort of taken some of the fun out.
We’ll see, I haven’t touched it in months. I’ve got memory for days so I might see what else is out there on the weekend.

Ah, that makes sense.
Keep in mind you can only get up to about 3.4 GB before KSP crashes. Something I’ve got installed is causing a memory leak, though, so it’s more of a when than an if.

I was using a 64 bit work around, even though it’s still not 100% stable it’s more stable than running the mods I had with the Unity 4 memory cap :P
my main reason for not playing recently is that I was holding out till they finally release the Unity 5 port.
